MY PICKS
Bible
Reading the Bible can be intimidating and overwhelming. There are several translations out there...some that are closer to the original languages (Hebrew & Greek), and some that use language easier to read. I was given advice from a favorite seminary professor once - and I've never forgotten it: "Be sure to pick a Bible translation that is easier for YOU to read. Because...guess what? You will read it MORE!" Makes sense, huh? My favorite is the New Living Translation (NLT). It uses modern english, and is more relevant to me. I also suggest having a Study Bible, which includes footnotes on every page to help give background, context and clarity to each passage.
Got Questions??? Website & App
My go-to website and app for any and all questions regarding God, Jesus, the Bible, theology, spiritual and life issues. I use it daily!
Ina Garten
I love to cook and entertain - and it was Ina (yes, we are on a first name basis!) who has had the greatest influence on me in these areas. She is wicked smart, practical, warm, and as her TV show refers to her (“Barefoot Contessa”) - she is casually elegant. I am super grateful to Ina for all that she has taught me…almost as grateful as my husband who gets to enjoy the fruits of all that I have learned :)
Napa Valley
We live a little over an hour away from some of the best wine in the world! A treasured pastime for us is driving to Napa Valley just for the day…tasting wine with friends, enjoying a delicious meal, and taking in the gorgeous hills and valleys covered in vines. Planning a trip soon? Feel free to reach out and I am happy to share some of our favorite spots.
Franklin, Tennessee
A dear friend moved to the area several years ago and my annual visits created a TN love affair!
We now own a home in Downtown Franklin. If you don’t know about this gem of a town,
Franklin consistently earns a top spot on all of the “Best Places to Live” lists.
I can confirm this!
From the short jaunt to Nashville (20 minutes north), to the walkable quintessential Main Street (known as, “America’s Favorite Main Street”), and never to forget the fascinating Civil War history…Franklin has it all and more! Do yourself a favor and plan to VISIT Franklin….I am quite sure you will fall in love as well!
